The friction pair operates under the condition of full film lubrication, which is an ideal condition. However, how to create conditions and take measures to form and satisfy the state of full film lubrication is more complicated work. In the long-term production practice, people have continuously explored and studied the principle of lubrication, some of which are relatively mature, and some are still being studied.

A brief introduction will be given to the commonly seen lubrication principles of dynamic pressure lubrication, static pressure lubrication, dynamic and static pressure lubrication, boundary lubrication, extreme pressure lubrication, solid lubrication, and self-lubrication.
Dynamic pressure lubrication brings lubricating oil to the friction surface through the rotation of the bearing auxiliary journal.
Due to the viscosity of the lubricating oil and the hydrodynamic action formed by the wedge-shaped gap of the oil in the bearing pair, the oil pressure is generated, that is, the bearing oil film is formed. Called hydrodynamic lubrication.
